Barn Conversion

Mix together an adventurous young couple and a fantastic Grade II listed 18th century barn in the Kent countryside and designer Adrienne Chinn and this is what you get -- a light-filled space showing off orginal beams, stone and brick with an eclectic, yet harmonious, mix of antique, Chinese and modern furniture. Ethnic accents from the couple's international travels add quirky touches. The colour palette is kept muted in order to highlight the textural qualities of the architecture, with a beautiful dark red Chinese silk bedspread adding the show-stopping accent colour to the stunning open-plan master bedroom. A reclaimed copper bath sits pride of place under the beams in the bathroom, while a huge walk-in dressing room provides ample space for clothes and yoga. The sleek kitchen with stainless steel appliances and chunky granite worktops provides a contemporary contrast to the richly textured stone and brick walls and reclaimed flagstone floor. Vintage factory lights over the breakfast bar provide a link between the open-plan living/dining room and the kitchen.
