Barnes Cottage Refurbishment
Barnes Cottage Refurbishment - Family Bathroom from this project was Highly Commended in British Design Awards 2009.
A richly coloured scheme of aubergine, gold, red and vibrant pink on an off-white background was chosen for the comfortable and glamorous living room. The bespoke rug was inspired by the embroidery on the sofa cushions.
A new extension has modern white kitchen units, glass splash-backs and green limestone worktops and floor tiles. The orange glass ceiling lights were specially commissioned.
The master bedroom is a haven of calm taupe and off-white with splashes of rich red and purple on the satin cushions and in the bespoke rug. The en suite shower room is clad with Molianos limestone tiles and the interior cabinetry is in American black walnut. Hand-painted tiles feature a lotus flower motif.
In the family bathroom, aqua glass mosaic tiles were used around the Swedish bathtub; fountain-style taps were also imported from Sweden. A run of mirrored cabinets reflects light around the narrow room and provides ample storage for the family. A large "frameless" glass shower was positioned next to the bathtub.
In the children's bedroom, a jungle theme was used, with a stunning hand-painted murals. In the guest bedroom a light, fresh scheme of cream and taupe is accented with vibrant red cushions and a floral roman blind.
Slabs of beautifully veined Calacata marble were selected to be custom-cut for the vanity top, splashbacks and flooring of the "jewel box" cloakroom. Pretty floral wallpaper adds further charm to this tiny room.
